therosequeeen asked: "White privilege" is thanking a blogger for informing and educating them? Do you just not like white people is all? Are you really hung up on something our ancestors did that has no infliction on today? You don't seem to have race pride. You just seem like you really dislike white people. I'm half white and I'm very proud to be white. White people have and are doing a lot of amazing things in this world. I'm also proud of everyone from all other races. Why do you choose to not be the same way?
this very message is the essence of white privilege. this is the game i do not play. you are here to question me, have me validate my feelings to you, make you comfortable, ultimately have me answer to you. you will not receive anything from me but: you are not welcomed here.

If you really think thousands of years worth of the shitty stuff white people have done in the past has not shaped the way that our culture treats people of color today, then you are totally ignorant.
Watching this whole situation transpire in the last few days, I have been amazed at how many white people are sending her messages genuinely upset that she has spoken out about whit privilege or called white people out for using her poetry in a way that appropriates it into their way of thinking and seeing things. They need to understand that white people don’t have a place and a say in everything, and we aren’t the center of every discussion. If a white person feels unwelcome in a community meant for people of color, instead of getting upset and demanding space, they should realize that people of color deal with that on a daily basis and just leave it be.
It’s not my fault that you left your key to your office at home and that the school won’t let me have a master key for our floor, so don’t get mad at me when you have to walk upstairs and get a key from someone else.
I know there’s been a lot of Louis on my blog lately, but the fact that he places importance on saying what he needs to say and calling people out on shitty behavior over being polite and not hurting people’s feelings is something I’m trying to do more of and I need it for inspiration.
BUT UNTIL FRIDAY COMES I am going to be sassy and unfeeling.
I cannot explain to you how much I am looking forward to Friday. When I wake up on Friday morning, a huge project that has been on my mind since the beginning of the semester will have been turned it. I will have taken my last final, and I will have spent the evening putting the finishing touches on my portfolio website with my friend Kelsen (which I am, admittedly, looking forward to).
When I wake up on Friday, all I’ll have left to do is work, go to ceramics and talk about my pieces, and then start my weekend. And I think remembering that will help me deal with all of the craziness tonight and tomorrow.
“A three second exposure meant that subjects had to stand very still to avoid being blurred, and holding a smile for that period was tricky. As a result, we have a tendency to see our Victorian ancestors as even more formal and stern than they might have been.”
I’ve reblogged this before and I will reblog it again.
This is so great
